Purchase guide
The dimensions of gas hobs are 30, 60, 70 and 90cm and can extend
further with combinations of models.
Main criteria for the selection of hob is the space available in the kitchen,
cooking habits and cuisine demands. For example, when there is daily and heavy
use, it is better to choose a hob of 70cm length with 5 burners, cast iron pan
supports and triple flame for high performance.
We should keep in mind that selecting a wider hob, more space
is required on the kitchen board and accordingly the cupboards on the top are
also reduced.
In case that we replace the hob that is already installed, we should pay
attention on the dimensions and purchase a product that fits in our kitchen to
avoid making changes to the kitchen furniture. In case that a new kitchen
furniture will be installed, we have the freedom to select the appliances that
we want.
Gas hobs are categorised to full gas (or just gas) and to
mixed fuel in the AKS range.
Full gas hobs are equipped by 4 or 5 burners, depending on the dimensions of the
hob. Mixed fuel hobs can have 3 gas burners and 1 electric element or 2 gas
burnes and 2 electric elements.
Every household has its own expectations from the use of the appliance. Although
there is tense to choose a hob that has at least one electric element, in homes
on the natural gas network, this may not be necessary.
Gas networks provide constant supply of gas and thus the use of the electric
element is rare. A 4 gas burner hob is usually the ideal solution to choose.
On 4 or 5 burners hobs, there is another feature available, this of the triple
or quadruple flame burner that offers better flame diffusion under the pan and
reaches up to 3500 watt power, giving us powerful boiling or frying.
At areas, far from gas networks, a mixed fuel hobs may sound a better solution,
as it give us the possibility to continue cooking in case that the bottle of gas
is empty
AKS offers a wide range of hobs that can stand alone or
combine together. Gas or mixed fuels hobs are in various designs with some
common features as far as burners are concerned.
A glass/ceramic hob is mainly concerned as more modern and different from the
metallic image of the appliances today. Cast-iron pan supports give the
impression of a more professional design and heavy use hob.
The selection between glass and stainless steel is generally upon the personal
aesthetic and the style of the kitchen itself.
Both categories have common cleaning and maintainance ways,
so these are not criteria to base your decision.
Gas or mixed fuel hobs can be combined with many ovens as
there completely independent from them. We can have gas or electric oven.
Gas oven bakes with the lower burner that gives the static oven function (upper
and lower elements) and the grill which functions with the upper burners and
always seperately from the lower one.
Electric ovens are usually equipped with many functions and give us the
possility to bake more than one tray at time with the use of hot air.
